Mozilla has officially integrated Perplexity, an AI answer engine, into Firefox, giving users the freedom to choose whether they want AI assistance when searching the web.

This feature was previously available only in select markets like the U.S., U.K., and Germany, but after strong user feedback, it’s now rolling out globally for desktop users. Mobile users can expect the feature in the coming months.

Perplexity delivers search results in a conversational style, providing direct answers with citations rather than a long list of links like traditional search engines. You can access it from the unified search button in the Firefox address bar or set it as your default search engine in the browser settings.

Mozilla says its partnership with Perplexity reflects its commitment to user privacy, noting that Perplexity doesn’t sell or share personal data. The company also hinted that more AI-powered search options may be added in the future, depending on user response.
