Microsoft is working to fix an ongoing service issue that is preventing some customers from setting up multi-factor authentication, or MFA, and accessing the My Sign-Ins website.

The company confirmed the issue via its Microsoft 365 Status account on X, noting that some users may be unable to set up MFA or access mysignins.microsoft.com. According to details shared in the Microsoft 365 admin center under MO1329260, affected users may see 504 Gateway Timeout errors when trying to access the platform.

Microsoft said the issue could stop some users from setting up Multi-Factor Authentication or accessing the My Sign-Ins portal. The company has already started mitigation steps and moved traffic to alternative healthy infrastructure to reduce the impact.

Microsoft later said it had completed mitigation actions, including failing over to alternate infrastructure, and was continuing to monitor service health. However, the company also noted that elevated error rates were still being observed, and engineers were looking at additional mitigation options to further stabilize the service.

The company has not yet confirmed which regions are affected. Microsoft acknowledged the issue around 5 AM ET and classified it as an ongoing incident, a status typically used for service problems that have a noticeable impact on users.
