Microsoft has announced that support for the remaining editions of Windows 11 version 22H2 will officially end on October 14, 2025.
This includes the Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise editions, which were originally released on September 20, 2022.
This move follows the end of service for the Home and Pro editions, which stopped receiving updates in October 2024. Microsoft stated that the October 2025 security update will be the final one for these versions. After that, affected systems will no longer receive monthly security or preview updates.
To maintain security and system stability, Windows Update will automatically begin upgrading consumer and non-managed business devices to a newer version once support ends. Users will still be able to schedule the upgrade for a convenient time outside of active hours.
Microsoft advises users to switch to Windows 11 version 24H2, the latest major update that began rolling out in May 2024 to enterprise users and later in October to eligible 22H2 and 23H2 devices. Users can manually enable early updates by going to Settings and turning on the “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available” option.
However, some upgrade blocks remain in place due to known compatibility issues. These blocks affect devices with certain drivers and software, including SenseShield Technology drivers, Intel Smart Sound Technology audio drivers, wallpaper customization tools, some integrated cameras, and Dirac audio software.
