Microsoft has started releasing a new Notepad update for Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev Channels on Windows 11.
The latest version brings two useful additions that make writing and formatting notes much easier.
The first improvement is support for tables. You can now insert tables directly inside Notepad to organize information in a cleaner way. Users can add a table from the formatting toolbar or create one using simple Markdown syntax. After inserting it, you can quickly edit the layout by adding or removing rows and columns through the right-click menu or the Table option in the toolbar. This makes Notepad feel more modern, especially for people who take structured notes or work with small sets of data.
The update also introduces faster responses for AI-powered features like Write, Rewrite, and Summarize. Instead of waiting for the entire output to appear at once, the text now shows up gradually, giving you a live preview as it forms. This makes the experience smoother and more natural.
For now, streaming results for Rewrite are only available on Copilot Plus PCs when the processing is done locally. To use any of these AI features, you must be signed in with your Microsoft account.
