Tech giant Microsoft is rolling out a new AI-powered summary feature in Notepad for Windows Insiders in the Canary and Dev channels.
This update allows users to highlight a section of text, right-click, and select “Summarize” to generate a concise version of the content. Users can adjust the summary length and access the feature using the Ctrl + M shortcut or the Copilot menu.

Users must be signed into a Microsoft account to use the AI summaries, though the feature can be disabled in Notepad’s settings.
Last year, Microsoft experimented with an AI-powered Rewrite tool in Notepad, signaling its push to bring more AI-driven productivity features to Windows 11.
