Microsoft has confirmed a new issue where recent Windows updates are breaking RemoteApp connections in Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environments.

The problem affects Windows 11 version 24H2 and 25H2, along with Windows Server 2025, following the installation of the November 2025 KB5070311 non-security update or later versions.

Microsoft clarified that personal devices running Windows Home or Pro editions are not affected, as Azure Virtual Desktop is primarily used in enterprise environments.

To reduce disruption, Microsoft has already deployed a Known Issue Rollback (KIR) for Windows Pro and Enterprise devices through Windows Update. Users are advised to restart their systems to speed up the rollback process.

For organizations that manage updates manually, Microsoft recommends applying a workaround by adding a registry key with administrator privileges and restarting the device. IT administrators can also deploy the rollback using a Group Policy provided by Microsoft, which temporarily disables the change causing the issue.

While Microsoft says it is actively working on a permanent fix, no timeline has been shared yet.
