Microsoft has announced that its analytics platform, Clarity, will begin enforcing cookie consent requirements in the European Economic Area (EEA), the UK, and Switzerland.
The phased rollout will lead to full enforcement starting October 31, 2025.
Website owners using Clarity will need to send explicit user consent signals before data can be collected in these regions. Without consent, certain features such as session recordings and funnel tracking will be limited, although end users will not notice any changes when browsing.
To comply, publishers can integrate consent through Google Consent Mode, the Clarity Consent API, or supported Consent Management Platforms such as CookieYes. Microsoft is urging site owners to implement these changes before the deadline to avoid disruptions.
