Meta has officially released a native WhatsApp app for the iPad, more than 15 years after the messaging service and the first iPad were introduced.

Available now on the App Store, the new WhatsApp for iPad brings many of the same features users are familiar with on the iPhone version.

With the new app, iPad users can now make audio and video calls with up to 32 people, use both front and rear cameras, and even share their screens during calls. The app also supports iPadOS features like Stage Manager, Split View, and Slide Over, making multitasking much easier. You can now chat on WhatsApp while browsing the web or watching videos in a split-screen view.

Previously, WhatsApp users on iPad had to rely on the web version in their browser or use the desktop apps for Mac or PC. Back in 2022, WhatsApp head Will Cathcart expressed interest in building a native iPad app, saying that “people have wanted an iPad app for a long time.”
