Kodak has confirmed that it is investigating a cybersecurity incident after an unauthorized third party gained temporary access to a limited amount of company data.

The company said it has engaged external cybersecurity experts to determine what information was accessed or copied and is working with law enforcement agencies as part of the ongoing investigation.

“Kodak recently discovered that an unauthorized third party illegally gained temporary access to a limited amount of company data,” a company spokesperson said. “We promptly engaged external cybersecurity experts to support an investigation of what data was accessed and copied.”

The company added that it is confident the incident poses no threat to its systems or business operations and said it will provide additional updates when appropriate.

Kodak has not disclosed how attackers gained access to its systems or whether its internal network was compromised.

The ransomware and extortion group ShinyHunters has claimed responsibility for the breach on its dark-web leak site, alleging it stole more than 2.2 million records containing customers’ personally identifiable information (PII) and internal corporate data.

The group has threatened to publish the allegedly stolen data if Kodak does not make contact by June 18, 2026.

While the claims have not been independently verified, ShinyHunters has previously been linked to multiple high-profile cyberattacks, including breaches involving Salesforce customers, Snowflake users, and third-party integration providers.
