Google has confirmed that a recent cyberattack exposed the personal details of people and businesses who were potential Google Ads customers.

The breach happened after hackers targeted one of the company’s corporate Salesforce systems, which stores customer relationship management (CRM) data.

According to Google, the exposed information includes business names, phone numbers, and notes taken by sales agents during pre-sales discussions. The company stressed that no Google Ads account data, payment details, or information from Google Analytics and Merchant Center accounts were affected.

The attack has been linked to a well-known hacking group called ShinyHunters. This group has been connected to several recent cyberattacks targeting Salesforce systems. While hackers claim that up to 2.55 million records were stolen, Google has not confirmed the exact number of people or businesses impacted.

Security experts warn that even though the leaked data does not contain passwords or financial details, it could still be used for phishing scams, spam campaigns, and social engineering attacks. The incident highlights the growing risks of cybercriminals targeting third-party business tools like CRM platforms.
