Meta’s microblogging app Instagram Threads has reached a new milestone, surpassing 350 million monthly active users, CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced during the company’s Q1 2025 earnings call on Wednesday.

The jump marks a noticeable acceleration from Q4 2024, where Threads added just 20 million users. Zuckerberg noted that Threads is “on track to become our next major social app,” highlighting its growing role within Meta’s ecosystem alongside Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger, which collectively now see more than 3.4 billion daily users.

Threads’ recent surge also puts it far ahead of decentralized competitor Bluesky, which has around 35 million users. However, X (formerly Twitter) still leads the space with over 600 million monthly active users, according to statements from X CEO Linda Yaccarino, also made on Wednesday.
