Instagram is rolling out a series of new features aimed at enhancing user expression and reducing the pressure of sharing content.

Starting today, users can now automatically share their currently playing Spotify song in Instagram Notes — the short-lived status updates that appear in DMs above profile pictures. This integration displays the song title and artist in real-time, offering followers a glimpse into a user’s current mood and music taste.

This update builds on Meta’s deeper partnership with Spotify and places another “Add to Spotify” button within the Instagram ecosystem. Unlike the existing manual song clip feature, this live update allows a more dynamic connection between music and social sharing.

Instagram also announced that starting next week, users will be able to rearrange the order of posts in their profile grid, a long-requested feature that gives more control over how personal pages are curated. Instagram chief Adam Mosseri previously hinted at this change earlier this year.

These updates are part of Instagram’s new “Anyway” campaign, which Mosseri says is focused on “reducing pressure and supercharging creativity.” One key feature now available to all users is the ability to test Reels with new audiences before sharing them with followers. Instagram says 40% of creators who tested this tool started posting more frequently, suggesting it’s helping users feel more confident about publishing content.

Together, these updates reflect Instagram’s broader push to make the platform more user-friendly and creativity-focused, especially as it competes with rising video-centric platforms like TikTok.
