Google has refreshed its iconic multicolored “G” logo for the first time in nearly a decade.

The update, spotted in the Google app on iOS and Pixel phones, replaces the distinct color segments with a smooth gradient that blends red, yellow, green, and blue hues, bringing it closer in style to the gradient used in the Gemini logo.

The last major update to Google’s logo came in September 2015, when the company adopted a sans-serif typeface and introduced the now-familiar multicolored “G” symbol. While the 2025 tweak is more subtle, the new gradient design reflects a broader visual shift in Google’s branding approach.

Currently, the updated logo appears only on iOS devices and Pixel smartphones. Other Android devices and Google’s web platforms still display the older version with clear color separations.

Google has not officially commented on the rollout or whether it plans to expand the change across all platforms.
