Google is increasing the prices of its Nest Aware and Nest Aware Plus subscription plans, effective August 15, 2025.
According to emails sent to subscribers, the price hike will affect both monthly and annual plans.
- Nest Aware: Increasing from $8/ month ($80/year) to $10/month or $100/year
- Nest Aware Plus: Increasing from $15/month ($150/year) to $20/month or $200/year
The new pricing takes effect on the first billing cycle on or after August 15, 2025, or after a user’s promotional period ends—whichever comes later. Google last raised Nest subscription fees in September 2023.
Although Nest devices can be used without a subscription, their video history is limited. Nest Aware offers 30 days of event-based video history, while Nest Aware Plus provides 60 days of events and 10 days of continuous 24/7 video history for supported devices.
Both plans also include:
- Familiar Faces for recognizing known people
- Sound detection for breaking glass or smoke alarms
- Emergency calling through the Google Home app
Despite the price hike, Nest’s plans remain competitive. They cover unlimited devices in a single home, while services like Ring’s Premium plan cost $19.99/month and Arlo’s multi-camera plan runs $17.99/month.
Google hasn’t given an official reason for the increase. However, it may be linked to new features in development, such as Gemini-powered AI camera intelligence. Currently available in beta for some users, this feature offers advanced, descriptive event summaries like “the dog is digging in the garden.”
