TikTok is introducing new tools to spotlight songwriters on its platform. Songwriters can now highlight the tracks they’ve written or co-written directly on their profiles through a dedicated “Music” tab—similar to the one already used by performing artists.
In addition, accounts registered as songwriters will display a “Songwriter” label beneath their name.
These additions build on TikTok’s growing suite of music-focused features. They include the “New” tag for recently released tracks, the ability to save songs to streaming platforms, and the “BehindTheSong” hub introduced in 2023. TikTok also recently launched the “Off the Record” series, where artists like Shakira and Charli XCX share insights into their creative process.
As music remains a key driver of TikTok’s cultural impact and user growth, the platform has formed partnerships with major artists and music services. In May, TikTok introduced integration with SoundCloud, allowing users to save tracks directly. While it launched a standalone music streaming app in 2023, that service was shut down the following year.
Currently, the new songwriter features are in closed beta with a select group of publisher partners. Interested songwriters and publishers can join a waitlist to gain access as the rollout expands.
