Google has introduced a new feature in NotebookLM that can transform users’ research and notes into fully animated cinematic videos using artificial intelligence.

The new feature is an upgrade to the video overview tool that Google launched last year. Earlier, NotebookLM could only generate narrated slideshows based on notes and documents. With the latest update, the platform can now create animated visuals that present information in a more engaging video format.

Google said the cinematic videos are generated using several of its AI models, including Gemini 3, Nano Banana Pro and Veo 3. These models work together to analyse the user’s notes and convert them into visual stories.

According to the company, Gemini determines the best narrative structure, visual style and format for the video. The AI also refines its own output to maintain consistency throughout the animation.

The feature is part of Google’s growing focus on AI-powered video tools. In recent months, the company upgraded its Veo AI video model and expanded access to Flow, its AI video generation platform.

Google also recently demonstrated a new AI system called Project Genie that can generate short video-style gameplay experiences inspired by classic video games.

The cinematic video overview feature is available in NotebookLM starting today. However, it is currently limited to users who have a Google AI Ultra subscription.

Google said the feature is available only in English for users who are over 18 years old. Subscribers can generate up to 20 cinematic video overviews per day.
