The FBI and Europol have shut down the hacking forum LeakBase in a major international operation targeting cybercrime platforms.
According to the US Department of Justice, LeakBase had more than 142,000 members and hosted a massive database containing hundreds of millions of stolen account credentials.
The platform was widely used by cybercriminals to access and trade compromised login details from various online services.
US law enforcement agencies worked together with Europol and international partners to seize the forum’s data and take control of two domains linked to LeakBase.
Officials said the operation was aimed at disrupting cybercrime networks that rely on stolen credentials for hacking, identity theft, and other illegal activities.
