Google has expanded its AI-powered Live Translate feature to iOS devices and a wider range of countries, making real-time translation more accessible to users worldwide.

The feature, which was previously limited to Android users in a few regions, is now available on both Android and iOS across countries, including the United States, India, Mexico, Germany, Spain, France, Nigeria, Italy, the United Kingdom, Japan, Bangladesh, and Thailand.

Live Translate allows users to hear real-time translations directly through their headphones, effectively turning any pair into a translation device. Powered by Google’s Gemini AI, the feature is designed to preserve the speaker’s tone, emphasis, and natural speaking style, helping users better understand conversations and distinguish between speakers.

Google says the tool can be useful in everyday situations, such as talking with family members who speak different languages or understanding announcements while traveling abroad. The feature supports more than 70 languages and works with any standard headphones.

To use it, users simply need to open the Google Translate app, select the Live Translate option, and connect their headphones.

Alongside this update, Google also announced a broader rollout of its AI-driven Search Live feature. Originally launched in July 2025, Search Live allows users to point their phone camera at objects and receive real-time assistance, enabling interactive, back-and-forth conversations based on what the camera sees.

With the latest expansion, Search Live is now available in more than 200 countries and territories and supports all languages where Google’s AI Mode is active. The feature can be accessed through the Google app on both Android and iOS by tapping the Live icon below the search bar.
