Google has informed AdSense publishers about an upcoming policy change that could increase the number of online gambling advertisements appearing on websites in several countries.

The update is scheduled to take effect on August 10, 2026, and applies specifically to Google’s Authorized Buyers advertising platform.

Under the revised policy, advertisers promoting online casinos, sports betting, online lotteries, bingo, slot machine games, and certain virtual currency games with real-world value will be able to serve ads in a much larger list of supported countries. Google also said advertisers using Authorized Buyers will no longer need to complete a separate certification process with the company before promoting this type of content.

The expanded list of supported regions includes countries such as Australia, Canada, Brazil, Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, the Netherlands, Mexico, the Philippines, South Africa, and many others where local laws allow these ads.

Google noted that the change affects only the Authorized Buyers policy and does not modify the existing Google Ads Gambling and Games policy. As a result, publishers may notice an increase in gambling-related ads being displayed on their websites for users in eligible locations.

Publishers who do not want gambling advertisements on their sites can continue using AdSense’s blocking controls to restrict sensitive ad categories. Google said the full policy language will be published on August 10, when the changes officially take effect.
