Facebook has announced a series of new updates aimed at making the platform more engaging and easier to use.
The latest changes include a dedicated app for Marketplace sellers, a free verification system to confirm real users, and a new immersive video experience.
One of the biggest additions is a new standalone app called Seller, created for people who regularly buy and sell items on Facebook Marketplace. The app allows sellers to manage listings, chat with buyers, and monitor how well their products are performing from a single place.
Facebook Marketplace continues to be one of the platform’s biggest attractions, with more than 430 million monthly listings and over 1.1 billion active users. The company hopes the new Seller app will make it easier for frequent sellers to stay active and organized.
Facebook is also introducing a free verification feature called Facebook Verified, which is separate from the paid Meta Verified subscription. Users can verify that they are real people by taking a selfie. Once approved, they will receive a new verification mark that appears across Facebook Dating, Marketplace, and Groups. The badge is displayed as a check mark inside a white circle, making it different from the blue verification badge available through Meta Verified.
Another major change is a new optional full-screen video interface for the Facebook app. The immersive video view automatically appears when users open the app and is designed to create a more engaging video-watching experience. The feature will first launch in international markets where video consumption is especially high before expanding to the United States next year. Users who prefer the traditional experience can switch back to the regular feed at any time.
Meta has been expanding its lineup of standalone apps to reach different types of users. Earlier this year, the company introduced Forum, a Reddit-style app focused on Facebook Groups, and more recently launched Pocket, a new app designed for AI-powered vibe coding.
