Tech billionaire Elon Musk has announced that XChat, the new messaging feature from X (formerly known as Twitter), is now being tested.
This update brings major changes, including stronger security and new communication methods.
According to Musk, the new XChat includes end-to-end encryption, similar to how Bitcoin protects its data. This means messages will be safer and harder for others to spy on. The system is built using a programming language called Rust, which is known for its strong security features.
All new XChat is rolling out with encryption, vanishing messages and the ability to send any kind of file. Also, audio/video calling.

This is built on Rust with (Bitcoin style) encryption, whole new architecture.
Users will also be able to send disappearing messages, share any type of file, and make audio or video calls. Some paying users have already started seeing the new features, as reported by TechCrunch, but it’s not yet clear when it will be available to everyone.
This update comes just days after X said it was “pausing” work on encrypted direct messages. Now, it seems the company is taking a different and more advanced path with XChat.
