OpenAI’s ChatGPT is handling more than 2.5 billion user requests every day, with 330 million daily requests originating from U.S.-based users, according to internal data obtained by Axios.
The report estimates that ChatGPT receives more than 912.5 billion requests annually—a staggering figure, though still short of Google’s 5 trillion annual search queries. However, the AI chatbot’s explosive growth signals a serious challenge to Google’s dominance in the search space.
In just a few months, ChatGPT’s weekly active users jumped from 300 million in December to over 500 million by March, highlighting increasing global adoption. The Verge reached out to OpenAI for comment but has yet to receive a response.
