Bluesky has been dealing with a distributed denial of service attack for nearly a full day, causing ongoing disruptions across its app.

The company first received reports of intermittent outages around 11:40 pm PDT on April 15, which is about 2:40 am ET, and the situation continued to escalate as the attack intensified through the day. Since then, the team has been working to manage the issue and keep the platform running.

Because of the attack, users have been facing interruptions while trying to use some of the app’s main features. Bluesky says feeds, notifications, threads, and search have all been affected, with service going in and out instead of working smoothly. The disruptions have made it difficult for many users to rely on the app consistently.

Even with the ongoing issues, the company said it has not found any evidence that private user data has been accessed without authorization. This suggests the attack is focused on overwhelming the service rather than breaking into user accounts or systems.

Bluesky says it is continuing to work on fixing the problem and will share another update no later than 1 pm ET on Friday as efforts to stabilize the platform continue.
