Apple has released iOS 27.2, bringing Apple Pencil support to its foldable iPhone Duo alongside several new features for video calls, Siri, Photos, and other built-in apps.

The update introduces an Edge Light feature designed to illuminate users’ faces during video calls. Apple had previously said Apple Pencil support would arrive on the iPhone Duo later this year, and the latest software release delivers on that promise.

Apple’s first foldable iPhone features a 7.6-inch inner display and a 5.4-inch outer screen, with iOS 27 introducing redesigned controls to accommodate both displays. Several major apps, including Netflix, Prime Video, and Microsoft Outlook, have already been updated to take advantage of the larger screen, although some applications still need further optimization.

iOS 27.2 also expands Siri AI capabilities, allowing it to suggest actions in Messages. Apple is extending Siri AI language support to French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese, and Spanish, making the features available to more users worldwide.

Another notable addition is support for Google’s SynthID AI watermark technology in Apple Photos and Image Playground. The integration is intended to help identify AI-generated images carrying SynthID watermarks.

Apple has also updated several of its built-in apps. The Apple TV app now supports user profiles on the iPhone, while Apple Podcasts is replacing its Up Next queue with a New Episodes list and adding a Continue Playing section underneath it. The update also introduces a new Apple Music logo.

FaceTime is receiving a useful improvement for group calls. Users can now use dual capture to show both their selfie camera and rear camera views during a call, making it easier to share their faces and surroundings simultaneously.

Alongside iOS 27.2, Apple has released updates for macOS 27.2 Golden Gate, watchOS 27.2, visionOS 27.2, tvOS 27.2, and HomePod 27.2.
