Andy Byron, CEO of tech firm Astronomer Inc., has resigned following a viral video showing him in an intimate moment with Kristin Cabot, the company’s Chief People Officer, during a Coldplay concert in Massachusetts on Wednesday.
Byron, who is married, was seen canoodling with Cabot when the pair appeared on a jumbo screen at Gillette Stadium, prompting immediate social media speculation and backlash.
The company issued a statement on LinkedIn Saturday, emphasizing the importance of leadership accountability and confirming Byron’s resignation, which was accepted by the board after he was placed on leave Friday. Chief Product Officer Pete DeJoy has been appointed interim CEO.
A spokesperson said Byron and Cabot were the only employees caught on camera but declined to comment on Cabot’s current status with the company.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, reacting to the moment on stage, joked, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy,” adding fuel to the viral spread. Social media users quickly identified both executives through their online profiles before the company officially confirmed their identities.
