Adobe is giving ChatGPT users a new way to design and edit their projects without switching between apps.

Starting today, Photoshop, Acrobat, and Adobe Express can be used directly inside ChatGPT. This means users can edit photos, adjust PDFs, or create designs simply by describing what they want.

The new Adobe apps are free to use. All you have to do is type the name of the app along with your uploaded file and a short instruction, such as “Adobe Photoshop, help me blur the background of this image.” After that, ChatGPT will remember your choice, so you won’t need to mention the app name again during the same conversation. Depending on your request, the Adobe apps may show several result options or provide small tools like sliders for changing contrast or brightness.

These tools don’t offer everything you get in Adobe’s full desktop versions, but they still handle a wide range of tasks. The Photoshop app can edit specific parts of a photo, add creative effects, and change settings like brightness and exposure. Acrobat can edit existing PDFs, compress files, convert other documents into PDFs, extract text or tables, and combine multiple files.

Adobe Express lets users generate and edit designs such as posters, invitations, and graphics, while also giving full control to change text, images, colors, and even animations without leaving ChatGPT. If someone wants more advanced editing later, they can open the same project in Adobe’s native apps and continue from where they stopped.

The Adobe apps for ChatGPT are available globally on desktop, the web, and iOS. The Adobe Express app also works on Android, while Photoshop and Acrobat will get Android support soon. This launch comes after OpenAI introduced app integrations for ChatGPT in October, including Canva, which already works in a similar way. OpenAI had recently paused its in-chat app promotions after users complained that the messages felt like ads.
