YouTube is making history by streaming the NFL’s 2025 Week 1 game for free worldwide.

The game will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, on Friday, September 5, and will feature the Los Angeles Chargers playing against a yet-to-be-announced team.

This will be YouTube’s first time broadcasting an NFL game live, though it has been streaming NFL Sunday Ticket since 2023. Viewers in the teams’ home cities can still watch the game on regular TV, while fans in the U.S. can use NFL Plus on mobile devices, and international viewers can access it through NFL Game Pass on DAZN.

YouTube says the stream will include interactive features and appearances by creators, making it more engaging than a typical broadcast. Mary Ellen Coe, YouTube’s chief business officer, shared that fans have already watched over 350 million hours of NFL content on the platform.

In addition to this big kickoff event, YouTube has signed a multi-year deal with the NFL to continue streaming the Super Bowl Flag Football game, showing the platform’s growing role in live sports broadcasting.
