Yelp is rolling out a major upgrade to its chatbot assistant, transforming it into something closer to a digital concierge focused on helping users actually complete tasks.

The company says the Yelp Assistant will now sit at the center of the app experience. Users can ask questions, get personalized recommendations, and even complete bookings within a single conversation. The chatbot will be accessible through a new Assistant tab that works across all categories on Yelp, marking a big step forward from its earlier version launched in 2024, which mainly focused on hiring service professionals.

Yelp is also expanding the Assistant’s capabilities with new integrations. Users will be able to order food for delivery or takeout through platforms like DoorDash and Grubhub, request quotes from local professionals in areas such as auto and pet care, and book appointments for services like beauty, wellness, fitness, and healthcare through Vagaro and Zocdoc. The company says support for Yelp Waitlist is on the way, along with integration with Calendly for easier scheduling.

Craig Saldanha, Yelp’s chief product officer, described the update as the company’s most significant AI product evolution so far, adding that it marks the beginning of a more conversational, personalized, and action-focused experience within the Yelp app.
