Microsoft is expanding its Xbox Cloud Gaming reach with the official rollout of the Xbox app for select LG smart TVs, starting today.
This means LG users can now stream Xbox games directly to their TVs, using a Bluetooth-enabled controller — no console needed.
The Xbox app is now available for LG’s 2022 OLED TVs, select 2023 models, and all newer TVs or smart monitors running webOS24 or higher. It will also soon arrive on LG’s portable StanbyME screens. For 2025 LG models, the app comes preinstalled via the LG Gaming Portal, while older supported models can download it from the LG Content Store.
To get started, users will need the latest firmware update, a wireless controller, and an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription. The app offers a streamlined, web-style interface that mirrors the Xbox Cloud Gaming experience — part of Microsoft’s broader strategy to turn every screen into an Xbox.
Originally launched on Samsung TVs in 2022, this move represents another step in Microsoft’s effort to make Xbox gaming more accessible beyond dedicated consoles.
