Microsoft is rolling out a new experimental feature in Windows 11 that brings AI-powered file search to the Copilot app.
The update, now available for Windows Insiders on Copilot Plus PCs, lets users find files by describing them in natural language rather than remembering exact names or dates.
For example, instead of typing a filename, you can simply ask Copilot to “find the file with the chicken tostada recipe” and the AI will search through your documents to deliver the right file. This smarter search aims to save time and make file navigation easier for everyday users.
Alongside AI search, Microsoft is also testing an updated Copilot home interface. The new layout highlights recent apps, files, and conversations, giving users quicker access to the things they use most. Additionally, the “get guided help” section now launches a Vision session, allowing Copilot to scan your screen and provide step-by-step instructions for apps or tasks. Users can even upload photos into Copilot and ask the AI to analyze them.
These features are being released gradually through the Microsoft Store for all Insider channels, with a wider rollout expected later. If successful, the AI-powered Copilot could become one of Windows 11’s most useful productivity tools.
