WhatsApp is testing a new feature for iPhone users that makes it easier to see when your contacts are online.
The latest beta version of WhatsApp for iOS, available through Apple’s TestFlight program, introduces a small green dot that appears next to contacts who are currently active.
The new indicator gives users a quick visual way to see which friends or family members are online without opening individual chats. The feature is designed to make starting conversations more convenient by highlighting active contacts at a glance.
The green dot is currently available only to beta testers using the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS through TestFlight. As with many beta features, it is being rolled out gradually, so not every tester may see it immediately.
WhatsApp has not announced when the online indicator will be released to all iPhone users. If testing goes well, the feature is expected to arrive in a future stable iOS update.
