WhatsApp is starting to experiment with a new premium tier that brings extra customization and convenience features to users willing to pay.
According to reports from WABetaInfo, Meta has begun rolling out a WhatsApp Plus subscription to a limited group of users, signaling a shift toward optional paid enhancements within the app.
The subscription focuses largely on personalization and usability upgrades rather than core messaging changes. Users who subscribe can access exclusive stickers, new app themes, and custom app icons that allow them to tweak the look and feel of WhatsApp. There are also premium ringtones included, adding another layer of personalization that goes beyond the standard experience.
On the functional side, WhatsApp Plus increases the chat pin limit significantly, allowing users to pin up to 20 conversations instead of the usual cap. It also introduces a bulk settings feature, making it easier to apply custom preferences across multiple chats at once, which could be especially useful for users managing large numbers of conversations.
The pricing appears to be set at around €2.49 per month, roughly just under $3, placing it in the same range as similar offerings like Snapchat Plus. For now, the feature is being tested only on Android through the standard WhatsApp Messenger app, with no availability yet for WhatsApp Business users. Support for iOS is expected to come later as the rollout expands.
