TikTok has confirmed that its services in the United States are fully restored after widespread outages last week that disrupted user experience across the platform.
The short-video app currently has more than 220 million users in the U.S.
According to the company, the disruption was triggered by a severe winter snowstorm that caused a power outage at a primary U.S. data center operated by Oracle. The incident led to network and storage failures, impacting tens of thousands of servers supporting TikTok’s U.S. operations.
In a statement shared on X, TikTok said the outage affected several core features, including content posting, video discovery, and the real-time display of likes and view counts. The company added that systems have now returned to normal, and stability has been restored.

The outage comes shortly after a major change in ownership. In January, the U.S. finalized a deal to spin TikTok into a separate entity. A U.S.-based investor consortium known as TikTok USDS now holds an 80% controlling stake, while ByteDance retains the remaining 20% ownership.
While the disruption raised concerns among creators and users, TikTok said it is reviewing safeguards to prevent similar incidents in the future, particularly as U.S. operations become more independent under the new ownership structure.
