Temu, the fast-growing e-commerce platform, has firmly denied allegations of a data breach after a hacker claimed to be selling a database with 87 million customer records.

The threat actor, operating under the pseudonym ‘smokinthashit,’ posted the data for sale on BreachForums, along with a small sample as supposed proof of the breach.

Temu responded by stating that after thoroughly examining the samples, no matches were found in their system. “Our security team conducted a comprehensive investigation and confirmed that the data being circulated is not from our systems,” Temu told BleepingComputer.

The company also emphasized its commitment to data privacy, citing its industry-leading security measures, including its MASA certification and PCI DSS compliance.

Despite Temu’s denial, the hacker insisted the breach was real, claiming they still had access to the company’s internal systems. However, they provided no concrete evidence to support these assertions.
