The largest trial court in the United States, the Superior Court of Los Angeles County, closed all 36 courthouse locations on Monday to restore systems affected by a Friday ransomware attack.

Presiding Judge Samantha P. Jessner stated, “The Court experienced an unprecedented cyber-attack on Friday, necessitating the shutdown of nearly all network systems to contain the damage, protect data integrity and confidentiality, and ensure future network stability and security.”

Significant progress has been reported, yet challenges remain that prevent the full restoration of the Court’s network systems.

The Court is optimistic that normal operations will resume promptly, ideally by Tuesday, July 23. The priority remains on ensuring a secure and functional environment for judicial officers and court staff.

Updates on the Court’s reopening will be shared as available through official channels, including the Court’s social media platforms on Twitter and Instagram at @LASuperiorCourt.

At the time of writing, the court’s website displays the following error message: “The page you are looking for cannot be displayed due to a website error. If the problem persists, please notify us by sending a message to the Webmaster. Thank you.”
