Sony is officially shutting down the current version of its PlayStation Stars loyalty and rewards program, originally launched in 2022.

The program allowed players to earn digital collectibles and points through gameplay and purchases, though Sony clarified these collectibles were not NFTs or blockchain-based assets.

In a blog post, Grace Chen, Sony’s VP of network advertising, loyalty, and licensed merchandise, said the company is “refocusing efforts” after evaluating player engagement and industry trends. Effective immediately, new users can no longer join the program, though existing members can continue earning points and collectibles until July 23, 2025, at 10:59 AM ET.

Sony plans to completely shut down this version of PlayStation Stars by November 2, 2026, hinting that a revamped version may be in the works. For now, users are encouraged to redeem any remaining points before the program ends.
