Sony has announced that it will raise the price of its PlayStation 5 consoles around the world beginning April 2.

The standard PS5 will now cost $649.99, up from $549.99. The PS5 Digital Edition will increase from $499.99 to $599.99. The PS5 Pro will see the biggest jump, moving from $749.99 to $899.99. Sony is also raising the price of the PlayStation Portal from $199.99 to $249.99.

This is the second price increase in less than a year. Back in August, Sony had already raised prices by $50 across all PS5 models.

Sony explained that rising costs and economic challenges forced the company to make this decision. It said the goal is to continue delivering high-quality gaming experiences to players worldwide, even though price changes may affect customers.

The new pricing will also apply in other regions. In the UK, the PS5 will cost £569.99, while the Digital Edition will be £519.99 and the PS5 Pro £789.99. In Europe, prices will reach €649.99 for the standard model and €899.99 for the Pro. In Japan, the PS5 will cost ¥97,980, with the Pro going up to ¥137,980.
