Snapchat has introduced a new safety-focused feature called Arrival Notifications, expanding on its recently launched Home Safe alerts.

The update lets users automatically notify selected friends or family members when they arrive at specific destinations, not just home.

With Arrival Notifications, users can set one-time or recurring alerts for places like classes, meetings, workouts, or travel stops. Once enabled, Snapchat sends a notification when the user arrives, removing the need to remember to send a message each time. The company says the feature is designed for everyday situations, such as letting someone know you made it back safely while traveling.

The feature works through Snap Map and only with people you choose to share your location with. Location sharing remains off by default, and alerts can only be sent to trusted contacts. One-time notifications expire after being delivered or after 24 hours if unused.

To set it up, users need to share their location with a friend, open the friendship profile, and scroll to Arrival Notifications. From there, they can select a spot on the map, give it a custom name, and choose whether the alert should be one-time or recurring.

The update arrives as Snap Map continues to grow, now reaching more than 400 million monthly active users. Originally launched in 2017, Snap Map has evolved beyond location sharing to include local discovery and activity recommendations.

By adding Home Safe and Arrival Notifications, Snapchat is positioning itself more directly against location-sharing services like Life360 and Find My, as competition increases around personal safety and real-time location tools.
