Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella stated that 20 to 30 percent of the code in some Microsoft projects is now being written by AI systems.
Nadella shared this insight during a conversation with Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg at Meta’s LlamaCon event.
“I’d say maybe 20 to 30 percent of the code that is inside of our repos today in some of our projects are probably all written by software,” Nadella noted, hinting at the deep integration of AI tools like GitHub Copilot in Microsoft’s development workflows. While exact metrics were not disclosed, the figure highlights a significant shift in how modern codebases are being built.
This comes just months after Google CEO Sundar Pichai made similar claims about AI-assisted coding at Google. The move reflects a broader industry trend where generative AI is increasingly being used to boost developer productivity and streamline code generation.
