OpenAI CEO Sam Altman was reportedly targeted early Sunday morning after a shooting incident outside his home in San Francisco’s Russian Hill neighborhood.
According to reports, two suspects were arrested after surveillance footage appeared to show someone inside a passing vehicle firing a weapon toward the property. Police later confirmed that the individuals were taken into custody and charged with negligent discharge of a firearm.
This incident comes just days after another alarming at the same residence. On Friday, a 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at the property. Authorities are still investigating both cases as they work to understand the circumstances behind the repeated attacks.
San Francisco police said officers were called to the area around 2:56 AM on April 12 following reports of possible gunshots. During the response, they identified a vehicle that had driven past the home around the time of the incident, with its license plate captured on camera. This helped officers track down the suspects, who were later arrested at a nearby residence. During a search of the location, police recovered three firearms.
Police officials stressed that incidents involving guns are treated with the highest level of seriousness. They also noted that quick action by responding officers played a key role in identifying the suspects, taking them into custody, and removing weapons from the streets.
