Pornhub has blocked access to its website in Mississippi and Virginia in protest of new laws that would require the service to verify the ages of its users.
The company says that enforcing these laws would be unfair and would drive traffic to “irresponsible platforms” that do not take user safety seriously.
Pornhub experienced an 80% drop in traffic after it began enforcing age verification in Louisiana earlier this year. As a result, the company has decided to block access to its websites in states with age verification laws instead of complying with them. In May, Pornhub blocked access to its website in Utah for the same reason.
