Pinterest is rolling out a new AI-powered visual search feature designed to help users find fashion accessories and outfit styles — even if they can’t describe what they’re looking for.
The platform’s new “Visual Language Model” decodes images and assigns descriptive keywords based on the style, color, fit, and overall “vibe” of each Pin.
With this new tool, users can click on an image of an outfit they like and instantly see a breakdown of its design elements, such as aesthetic, fabric, color palette, and silhouette. From there, Pinterest allows users to refine the search by changing the fabric, color, or even the occasion, such as finding a work-appropriate version of a casual look.
The feature is now live for women’s fashion content in the US, Canada, and the UK, with plans to expand to other categories and regions in the future. Pinterest says the AI-driven approach will make fashion discovery more intuitive and personalized for users.
