OpenAI appears to be developing a new “Record” feature for ChatGPT that could challenge Microsoft Teams’ Copilot integration by enabling live meeting summaries and voice transcription.

As discovered by X user @M1Astra, recent code found in the ChatGPT mobile app includes references to the upcoming Record tool. The feature would allow users to pause, resume, and convert audio to text in real-time. ChatGPT will also reportedly provide detailed meeting reports and quick summaries, offering a productivity boost for professionals and teams.

The feature will request access to the microphone and system audio, with in-app prompts reminding users to obtain consent before recording—a likely move to address privacy and legal concerns.

While Microsoft Teams offers seamless Copilot integration, OpenAI’s approach seems more general-purpose. The Record feature is expected to function as an overlay within ChatGPT, rather than a direct integration with video conferencing platforms like Zoom or Teams.

Although OpenAI hasn’t officially confirmed the feature, its appearance in app code strongly signals the company’s ambition to expand ChatGPT’s role in workplace productivity and live collaboration.
