OpenAI has fired an employee for allegedly using confidential company information to place trades on prediction markets, according to a report confirmed to Wired.
The company said the employee used non-public information related to OpenAI in connection with trades made on platforms such as Polymarket. While OpenAI did not reveal the individual’s name, a spokesperson stated that the actions violated company policy. Employees are banned from using inside information for personal gain, including on prediction markets.
OpenAI has not provided further details about the employee’s activity and did not immediately respond to additional requests for comment.
