Notion has restored access to Anthropic’s AI models after a temporary service disruption affected some users of Notion AI over the weekend.

Early Sunday morning, Notion said Anthropic’s Opus 4.7 and 4.8 models were facing degraded performance, which led to a higher number of failures for users who selected those models inside Notion AI.

Because of the issue, Notion temporarily disabled all Anthropic models in its automated productivity tool while the problem was being addressed.

About 12 hours later, Notion’s head of product, Max Schoening, said access to Anthropic’s models had been restored. He also responded to online speculation around the outage, saying he was surprised by how many people were sharing the update because they wanted the incident to be seen as a story about model quality.

Schoening said the problem was only a temporary service disruption and added that such issues can happen across major software platforms, including Notion, GitHub, AWS and other services.

Anthropic also confirmed the disruption in a statement, saying a brief infrastructure issue caused elevated errors across multiple Claude models for a short period of time. The company said the issue has now been resolved and thanked users for their patience while service was restored.
