Microsoft says some Windows 365 customers are having trouble downloading and installing Office on their Cloud PCs after a recent service update introduced a configuration change.
Windows 365 is Microsoft’s cloud-based service that runs on Azure Virtual Desktop and lets business and enterprise users stream Windows Cloud PCs to their devices. The company acknowledged the issue on Tuesday, May 12, and is tracking it under incident ID WP1309017.
According to a service alert seen by BleepingComputer, Microsoft found that a recent service update included a configuration change affecting Office downloads and installations on Windows 365 devices. The company said it is now working on a fix to correct the configuration and plans to deploy it to affected environments.
Microsoft warned that validating and rolling out the fix will take time, which means the resolution may be delayed. The next update on the issue is expected on Friday.
“We identified that a recent service update contained a configuration change that’s impacting the downloading and installation of Office on Windows 365 devices,” Microsoft said in the alert.
The company has not yet shared a final timeline for when the problem will be fully resolved. Microsoft also said any Windows 365 user trying to install Office could potentially be affected, although the incident has been marked as an advisory, a label usually used for service issues with limited scope or impact.
