Microsoft has officially banned its employees from using the DeepSeek app, citing concerns over data security and Chinese government influence, Microsoft President Brad Smith said during a Senate hearing on Thursday.
Smith revealed that DeepSeek’s app is not allowed on Microsoft devices and isn’t offered in its app store due to fears that user data could be stored in China and that the AI model’s outputs may be influenced by Chinese propaganda.
DeepSeek’s privacy policy confirms that it stores user data on Chinese servers, making it subject to Chinese intelligence laws and content censorship.
