Microsoft is facing an ongoing outage that is preventing many enterprise customers from accessing key Microsoft 365 services, including emails, files, meetings, and administrative tools.

In a post on X around 2:30 p.m. ET, Microsoft said the disruption was caused by a “portion of service infrastructure in North America not processing traffic as expected.” The company did not disclose the exact cause but said it is actively working to restore the affected infrastructure and return services to normal.

According to Microsoft’s service status page, the outage is impacting Exchange Online, file search and access in SharePoint Online and OneDrive, as well as chat creation, meetings, and member management in Microsoft Teams.

The disruption is also limiting administrative access to Microsoft Purview, Defender XDR, and Microsoft 365 admin centers, creating additional challenges for IT teams managing enterprise environments.

Microsoft has not yet provided an estimated timeline for full recovery, but says it continues to monitor the situation as mitigation efforts remain underway.
