Instagram is rolling out new safety features to protect children and teens from unwanted adult attention on the platform.
Starting today, adult-managed accounts that mainly post pictures of children will no longer be recommended to adult users who have shown “potentially suspicious behavior,” according to Meta. Likewise, such adult users will not appear in recommendations for those child-focused accounts either — and they’ll be harder to find in Instagram Search.
In addition to this, Instagram is also strengthening protections for teen users. The platform is introducing new tools to make it easier for teens to report and block unwanted messages in their DMs, a long-standing concern for younger users and their parents.
The new measures will automatically apply to relevant accounts starting this week.
