U.S. tech distribution giant Ingram Micro confirmed on Monday that a ransomware attack is behind an ongoing outage that has disrupted its global operations since last Thursday.

The California-based company, which also offers managed cloud services, experienced a system-wide failure that brought down its website and much of its network. In a brief statement released late Saturday, Ingram Micro said it is actively working to restore systems and resume order processing.

The outage is impacting software licensing, making it difficult for customers to provision or use certain products that rely on Ingram’s backend systems.

Before U.S. markets opened Monday, Ingram Micro disclosed the cyberattack to shareholders. While no ransomware group has officially claimed responsibility, Bleeping Computer reports that the SafePay ransomware gang is likely behind the breach. So far, no ransom demand or stolen data leak has been made public.

As one of the world’s largest tech distributors, Ingram Micro’s infrastructure plays a critical role in the global tech supply chain. The breach raises concerns about supply disruptions and cybersecurity risks in IT service providers.

Company spokesperson Lisa Zwick has yet to issue a formal comment on the attack.
